McKinley Park is a wonderful place for residents to get outdoors in the fresh air. There are tons of amenities in the park, such as a basketball court, horseshoe pits, playgrounds, jogging trails, and more. The rose garden in Mckinley Park is one of the most beautiful spaces in Sacramento and is an idyllic spot to relax and find inner peace. 

Run to Feed the Hungry is the largest Thanksgiving run in the country, with an average of 25,000 runners each year. This event hosts a 5k run/walk and a 10k run where awards are given out at the end of the races. The donations raised during the runs are used to buy meals for families and individuals in need. 

During the holidays, locals of East Sacramento enjoy the Christmas Lights in the Fabulous Forties. This annual event includes a horse-drawn carriage ride through beautiful neighborhoods set up with holiday light displays. 

The Sacramento Cactus & Succulent Show & Sale is a great event for those with a green thumb. At the event, they educate the public on how to properly care for their cacti and succulents at home.
